Circuit Court of Appeals denied <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicknowledge.org\/documents\/public-knowledge-petition-for-rehearing-filing-mozilla-v-fcc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">petitions for rehearing<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mozilla v. FCC <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">filed by various parties, including Public Knowledge.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the Court\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicknowledge.org\/press-release\/public-knowledge-applauds-d-c-circuit-court-ruling-preventing-fcc-from-blocking-state-net-neutrality-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">recent opinion<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it upheld in part the Federal Communications Commission\u2019s December 2017 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicknowledge.org\/press-release\/fcc-abandons-consumer-protection-responsibility-with-net-neutrality-repeal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Restoring Internet Freedom Order<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Public Knowledge <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicknowledge.org\/documents\/public-knowledge-dc-circuit-intervenor-net-neutrality-filing\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">filed as a petitioner<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> opposing the FCC\u2019s abandonment of its own <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicknowledge.org\/press-release\/public-knowledge-commends-fcc-for-adopting-landmark-net-neutrality-rules\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">net neutrality rules<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. While the FCC\u2019s classification decision was narrowly upheld, the court also ruled that the FCC cannot prevent states from enacting their own net neutrality laws or other broadband regulations. Public Knowledge asked the court to reconsider portions of its decision that sided with the FCC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The net neutrality rules created by the FCC\u2019s 2015 Open Internet Order prevented broadband providers from blocking websites, throttling web traffic, or creating \u201cfast lanes\u201d only for those able to pay for prioritization. Millions of Americans <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2014\/9\/16\/6257887\/fcc-net-neutrality-3-7-million-comments-made\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">expressed support for these rules<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fcc.gov\/ecfs\/search\/filings?proceedings_name=17-108&amp;sort=date_disseminated,DESC\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">submitting comments<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the FCC, and <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.publicconsultation.org\/united-states\/overwhelming-bipartisan-public-opposition-to-repealing-net-neutrality-persists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">more than 80 percent of Americans<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> consistently say they support restoring the protections the FCC adopted in the 2015 Open Internet Order.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The following can be attributed to John Bergmayer, Legal Director at Public Knowledge:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cRehearings and en banc reviews are rarely granted.
