Public Knowledge has the pleasure of inviting you to a multifaceted program focused on training and developing the next generation of tech policy experts and public interest advocates that reflects the diversity of voices and experiences in our society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please join us for our monthly Career Breakfast Series. This event is designed specifically for students and recent graduates of color, offering insights into tech policy and public interest careers, and providing a platform for individuals from underrepresented backgrounds. This time you will have the opportunity to have a great conversation with Amanda Beckham<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amanda Beckham (she\/her) executes Free Press\u2019 strategy for engaging lawmakers in D.C. to advance policy that achieves our core goals of promoting equitable access to technology, saving Net Neutrality, and ensuring that media and technology are tools of democracy and not oppression. Empowerment and accountability drive Amanda\u2019s approach to government advocacy. She believes in empowering our communities, partner organizations, and government allies to develop policy solutions to issues such as closing the digital divide, combating online disinformation, and ending harmful surveillance practices. She also believes that within our movement, we must hold ourselves and others accountable to our mission, communities, and commitments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amanda comes to Free Press having spent three years with Planned Parenthood Empire State Acts advocating at the state level for policies that remove barriers to healthcare access and protect the right to bodily autonomy. She earned her B.A. from the University of Michigan, majoring in political science with a minor in German. Outside of work, she is passionate about food \u2014 both experimenting with new recipes and visiting new restaurants \u2014 travel and film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
