Public Knowledge has the pleasure of inviting you to a multifaceted program focused on training and developing the next generation of tech policy experts and public interest advocates that reflects the diversity of voices and experiences in our society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please join us for our monthly Career Breakfast Series. This event is designed specifically for students and recent graduates of color, offering insights into tech policy and public interest careers, and providing a platform for individuals from underrepresented backgrounds. This time you will have the opportunity to have a great conversation with Commissioner Anna Gomez<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Commissioner brings over 30 years of public and private sector experience in domestic and international communications law and policy to her position.  In 2023, she led U.S. preparations for the International Telecommunication Union World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 (WRC-23) for the Department of State and from 2009 to 2013 she served as the National Telecommunications and Information Administration Deputy Administrator.  While at NTIA she oversaw the successful transition to digital television, as well as efforts that resulted in the establishment of a broadband network for first responders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commissioner Gomez also served for 12 years in various positions at the FCC, including as Deputy Chief of the International Bureau and as Senior Legal Advisor to then-Chairman William E. Kennard.  She also served as Counsel to the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee, and as Deputy Chief of Staff of the National Economic Council during the Clinton Administration.  Prior to joining the State Department in 2023, Commissioner Gomez worked in private practice focusing on telecommunications law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born in Orlando, Florida, Commissioner Gomez spent her childhood in Bogota, Colombia before her family relocated to New Jersey.  She now resides in Virginia.  Commissioner Gomez earned her B.A. in Pre-Law from Pennsylvania State University and her J.D. from George Washington University Law School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
