If you haven&#39;t read it yet, check out the great breakdown on an  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\">Engadget<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/entry\/1234000100070236\/#c631286\">comment post from the Chris Drake, with the New Orleans&#39; Mayor&#39;s office<\/a>.  <em>Man, the places you&#39;ll find sources of information these days!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>With donations of equipment and engineering manpower from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.intel.com\">Intel<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tropos.com\/\">Tropos<\/a> (who actually helped out with DC&#39;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openpark.net\/\">OpenPark<\/a>), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prontonetworks.com\/\">Pronto<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.motorola.com\">Motorola<\/a>, combined with Federal funds from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fema.gov\/\">FEMA<\/a>, the network is being setup to not only spur commerce, but also provide for city services like EMS, police and fire departments, as well.<\/p>\n<p>We think Muni-WiFi can be a great development for local communities and hopefully will provide the citizens of New Orleans with some low cost universal telecommunications infrastructure.
